2003-01-21//6:00 p.m. Kia Ora- -Neil Finn, Astro, 1998 'Spent most of the day second guessing...' So anyway...it's kind of an I-Don't-Want-To-Be-At-Work-So-I'll-Just-Watch-Beat-Takeshi-And-Yakuza-Films-With-Lots-Of-Guns-And-Blood day. At least today is the first day of V's Christmas gift (though at the moment she's stuck in hell-like traffic)--the Culinary Arts class. I think it will be fun for her, and the added bonus that Mr. Eric and I believe Christel are taking the same class so she'll be among friends. I'm supposed to meet the Hynes' over at Best Buy tonight, but with the traffic situation I may forgo that because I don't want them to wait on me. It's funny, but most everything this weekend was flanked by a trip to the mall. The mall is Generation-X's social cave, the stores are the rock paintings, and the food courts are the great buffalo hunt--our legacy to history. I don't know if we could even function well without them. Over this past 3 day weekend we visited 3 malls and 2 shopping complexes. Mind you, I'm not complaining because I love the mall. It's just sort of odd...our generation was weaned on malls (much like the generation after us was weaned on TV and computers). Hell, if I lived near one of the Canada supermalls or Mall of America I think I would never leave. You can live there, work there, eat, sleep, vacation there, get married there, breed there, get medical aid there, and probably eventually even die and be buried there. It's astounding how tied we are to the mall. Shit...nearly 6:00pm. I have to go meet the Hynes' at Citrus Park Mall... Heart, -N.
