So there is something I've always been wondering. The Rebel Alliance were trying to blow up the Death Star by firing into the exhaust port at the end of the trench (which was apparently positioned at flat on the bottom of the trench). And they ran a good portion of the length of the trench which the beginning part had lots of cannon fire and the end portion had none (this is where Lord Vader was patrolling by swooping down into the trench to attack). Wouldn't it have made more sense to just fly in towards the end of the trench and fire perpendicularly into the exhaust port? It would have been a straight, head-on shot and then boom. And that's basically what Lord Vader was doing to attack the Rebels--you know he was thinking, 'What the fuck are these yahoos doing? Don't they know they could just fly to the end of the fucking trench?'

The Rebels were fucking idiots--Darth Vader so rules.
