Kia Ora-

'Wander through the library/Volumes of the deceased/There's no happy endings/History has been cruel/Feel the blood of ages/Flowing through my veins/Still there is no reason/I wonder what's coming...'
-Neil Finn, Voices, 1984

I like never write in my diary anymore, but this literary This-or-That Tuesday from Sofi caught my eye, and duty bound as a library-duder I had to fill it out.

1. Newspapers or magazines?

I prefer newspapers, but I do read a lot of magazines. I find that I get bored with magazines very easily.

2. Books-on-tape or regular books?

Both. I only listen to books-on-tape if I'm spending a lot of time in the car.

3. Paperback or hardcover?

Hardcovers. They make paperbacks too flimsy nowadays.

4. Fiction or non-fiction?

Non-fiction. It's, more often than not, stranger than fiction. I love books on Space History, travel, New Zealand, Japan, Soviet History.

5. Sci-Fi/Fantasy or romance novels?

To be honest, I'm more of a biography man myself. I generally hate Sci-Fi/Fantasy books, but a couple of my favourites are Sci-Fi. I do like a couple of Romance novels, but they are legit--Yukio Mishima.

6. Borrow from library or buy books (either new or used)?

I like to buy them. I know, it's kinda like biting the hand that feeds me.

7. Subscribe to magazines or buy on newsstand?

Newstand. There are so few magazines that I could stand reading an entire years worth of.

8. Current best-sellers or classic literature?

Classic. Oscar Wilde, Yukio Mishima, Yasunari Kawabata, Banana Yoshimoto.

9. Read books once, or re-read favorites every so often?

There are only two books I can really ever enjoy re-reading--Infinity Welcomes Careful Drivers and Better Than Life, both books by Grant/Naylor and both about Red Dwarf. Occasionally I get the urge to read the Douglas Adams books, but that's about it.

10. Here in the U.S., we have two hot best-sellers...former First Lady Hillary Clinton's memoirs, and the new Harry Potter book (coming out June 21). If you had to read one, which one...Hillary or Harry? Why?

Three words--FUCK HILLARY CLINTON!!! I could give a rat's ass about Hillary. I would choose the Harry Potter book because I know I will end up reading it whether I want to or not.

Keep the faith,

-N.
