2003-07-07//12:22 a.m. Kia Ora-- -Bono, Promenade, 1987 Those of you with insight will understand my quote for today beyond the obvious reference to the most recent holiday. It's two-fold. Firstly, it's one of my favourite tracks from my favourite U2 album, The Unforgettable Fire (such great memories of when I used to put this song on my Walkman and ride the Crazy Camel at Busch Gardens, leaning back and eyes closed--the ultimate way to experience that ride). Secondly, on the album it is the song before the instrumental track 4th Of July. Our holiday was great, as per usual. Friday we went up to New Port Richey to the Hynes' and celebrated our nation's independence with Mr. Eric, Mr. Phil, Christel, and K&K's new neighbors. We blew lots of fireworks up, ate wonderful food (ribs, burgers, hot dogs, macaroni salad, cole slaw, cobbler, brownies, watermelon, etc.), and played a hell of a lot of PS-2 (generally, Smackdown). V and I crashed there for the night. We woke up around the crack of noon. K&K took us to this little cafe' that they first went to when they moved into the house called The Place To Eat. Good food, good tuna melt. We shopped most of the afternoon and headed back to the house to regroup. We decided to go and finally see Hulk. For spacial reasons, we ended up at a later showing (the first theater was packed and there were only seats in the front row). We got out around 1:00am. I liked the film but it definitely had things wrong with it. Could have been so much more, but alas. Still, I liked it better than Spiderman. Today I golfed with Kirk and Mr. Eric. Long story short, because of the whim of one of the...let's say woman-of-dubious-nature...we had to cut our game short. Suffice it to say I am calling up tomorrow and bitching the place out. After, Mr. Eric and I tried the driving range near his house and it was great--they even have a hippie VW van you can aim at. Then V and I went to the new Kash & Karry and watched bad TV until late. I guess that's about it. A good holiday with my homies. Back to work and MBL practice tomorrow. Keep the faith. -N.
